Man In A Room


I started on the room which looked alot different from the finished product, I'll upload the stages of it in MS Paint section on the site. I am not too keen on the window being there for two reasons, it is too big and there is no light coming from the outside through the glass but with this , I was experimenting with shadow and colour tones. I normally have black outlines on my designs but in this picture all lines are shadowed and highlighted by its same colour but in different tones so it doesn't look too pixelated.



As you can see with the images above, I have been experimenting with different shapes. A cube with 3 different coloured sides, a sphere but more work needs to be done with that shape and a hollow rectangle or fishtank as I think it looks like one. You can see tha black outlines on these shapes, these are rough lines for me to work around and after they are finished they will be highlighted in another colour similiar to the objects primary colour.

Just started working on a small project involving the program "Games Factor 2" I did some research and find that the program is pretty decent for amature designers and I spoke to some of my friends about it and they agree it being a good little start up program so I decided to get a copy and test is out. I am currently knocking up some designs/graphics in Paint to use for a test game although the file exports your projects as .exe It won't be fully accessible on the site but I will put a download for it when its done.

Also started doing the paperwork on Valius again as that project seems to get bigger and bigger everytime I try something with it. It is probably too many ideas and not enough practical ones. I will eventually get it done as I owe it to myself to complete it even if it does take me 10 years!

I am also looking for voice actors so if you know or have heard of the series and think you can do a pretty mean impression of any of the characters in the Metal Gear Solid 1 then please contact me at david-mcgowan@hotmail.co.uk

 

I did some character art work on what they might look like and how they would move. At the moment I am working on the scenery and backgrounds for the game to see how it holds up behind the characters. No doubt that if I did take on this project the time/effort and fps would be huge. Overall, I wouldn't have it out by late Feburary 2009 and I have other projects currently in the making which is already taking up enough of my time.



I created a rough design of the ingame look with key features such as the radar located at the top right of the screen and the interactive with the guards, alerting them and sneaking past them. The artwork is pretty standard when working with pixels, it's just a length process getting every little detail right other wise it doesn't have the same feel. Alot of my music is going on Newgrounds but I had failed to noticed when uploading the songs reading the small print about "anyone having the right to use or download these songs as it is public domain" This really bugged me as I don't want people stealing my work and claiming it thiers and I wouldn't even know they are doing it as NG is such a huge community and alot of users are quite arrogant and stuck up.

I devised a way on how to combat it, I couldn't stop people from downloading my work but I did give them a reason not to download and to ask me first. I started uploading samples and replaced them with full songs so if someone liked what they heard and wanted it, they would have to ask me or download a small piece of it which is entirely worth it in the long run for them if they plan to use it somehow.
